Classroom Proprieties

Common courtesy is the foundation of proper classroom etiquette. You should arrive for class on
time. If you are late, find a seat as quickly and quietly as possible. Before entering a classroom,
turn your cell phone or pager off, or to the "vibrate" mode. All conversation should cease once
the instructor enters the room. Any conversation that takes place while the instructor is taking attendance
or writing on the board is rude and will not be tolerated. If you miss a class, it is your responsibility
to acquire any missed notes or assignments. The instructor will provide you with an overview of the
assignment. The student should then seek out a classmate, who was in attendance that day, for a detailed
analysis of what was covered during class time. All written work should be submitted on the assigned
due date. There is really no excuse for a paper or case study to be handed in late, as ample time will
be provided for preparing the assignment. A student should not bring breakfast or lunch to class and
eat while instruction is taking place. It is a distraction to others and can be the source of disruption should
the food be spilled or dropped. Simple courtesy and appropriate behavior is expected at all times from
each and every student.
