Additional WebCT Help Sessions are available during the first week of classes. The following sessions are optional . Most students find it helpful to attend one optional help session, although you are welcome to attend more than one session.

General Orientation Sessions for Online and Hybrid WebCT Courses

General Orientation Sessions are available during the first week of classes. The sessions are conducted on a drop-in basis for first time online students. You do not need to attend the entire Orientation Session. If you have never taken an online course, you are strongly encouraged to attend one of the following orientation sessions.

Browser Tune-Up

The most important function you can perform before participating in your WebCT course is a Browser Tune-Up. This will solve most problems you may encounter. Update your browser settings by following the directions located on the WebCT Browser Tune-Up page at http://www.webct.com/tuneup or by clicking on the “Check Browser” link on your myWebCT page.

If you fail to perform a browser tune-up, you may run into difficulty accessing your course materials. Please refer to the Student Getting Started Guide for further information. Also, use the following check list to be sure you have completed the browser tune-up.

 

WebCT Orientation Module

For more information about how to use the WebCT course management system, you can access our WebCT Orientation Module. You can access the Orientation from within WebCT or from a web page.

Perform a WebCT Browser Tune-Up

Read the Browser Tips and Troubleshooting: 

If you are still having trouble using WebCT, read the Browser Tips and Troubleshooting  page. There may be a problem with your browser or other software on your computer.  Additionally, the address for this page is: http://www.webct.com/tuneup/viewpage?name=tuneup_browser_troubleshoot

Password Problems:

Your 6 digit Banner PIN is your WebCT password.

If you change your Banner PIN, it will affect your WebCT password.

Where is the Information Technology Help Desk?

The Helpdesk is located in the Technology Building, Room T544.

Information Technology Help Desk Hours

The Helpdesk is staffed the following hours:

  • Monday - 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

During the following hours, an evening and Saturday technician regularly monitors the Help Desk voice mail.

  • Tuesday through Friday - 1:00 pm to 9:30 pm
  • Saturday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

On any off hours or if there is no one at the desk, please leave a message at ext. 1139 or e-mail helpdesk@massasoit.mass.edu.  Please note that hours are subject to change during semester breaks.

WebCT Help Desk

If you have questions, contact the WebCT Help Desk at webct@massasoit.mass.edu . During the semester:

·         Help requests received by 4:00 pm Monday through Saturday will be addressed the same day

·         Help requests received on Sunday will be addressed the following business day

Additionally, students can contact Linda McAlpine, at 508.588.9100, extension 1613, for academic issues pertaining to the use of  WebCT.
