Description: This course is designed to give those in the computer and security professions an understanding of the challenges of protecting information assets and the resources available to meet those challenges. An introduction to information/ computer security is followed by an examination of the need for security and the legal, ethical, and professional issues faced by professionals in this field. Students will then examine the methodologies within the five stages (Security Analysis, Logical Design, Physical Design, Implementation, and Maintenance and Change) of the development, implementaion, and maintenance of a new security system within an organization or the improvement of an existing security system.

Grading Policy:
Points: Points will be assigned to assignments, quizzes and attendence. The total points earned during the semester will be divided by the possible points to be earned and a letter grade granted according to the scale that follows:

Attendance/
Participation Policy:
Students are expected to attend and participate in all class meetings.
Late Homework/
Project Policy:
Homework and projects will be accepted only at the beginning of the class on the date they are due. Late homework/projects will not be accepted.
Makeup Exam Policy: Exams are to be taken when scheduled. There will be no make-up exams.
