Course Obejectives-Dental Science II

Upon the successful completion of this course, the student will...

  1. Be able to identify the signs and symptoms of a Medical Emergency in the dental office and be able to respond and document it appropriately.
  2. Have knowledge of the commonly prescribed pharmaceuticals used in dentistry, their use, side effects, contraindications and brand vs. generic names.
  3. Be able to identify the parts of a prescription and the record keeping for prescriptions.
  4. Understand the classification of pharmaceuticals.
  5. Be able to recognize signs and symptoms of drug abuse, interaction and allergic reactions of prescribed medications.
  6. Be able to identify the instruments, tray set-ups, and procedures for a variety of dental specialties.
  7. Have a working knowledge of a variety of dental specialties, and the assisting skills involved.
