Attendance Policy

Students should attend all class and laboratory sessions. If a student must be absent, it is his/her responsibility to cover all material missed in lecture. Laboratory exercises may or may not be made up, depending upon the exercise or materials used. Students should consult with the instructor if a class or laboratory session is missed. If a test is missed for any reason other than extended illness, that test must be made up at the earliest convenience of the instructor (normally at the next scheduled session) or it will be graded as a zero. NOTE: If a student misses three sessions, he/she may be dropped from the course, at the discretion of the instructor.

General course requirements:

Students must complete four or five examinations on a broad range of text, lecture, and laboratory material. Laboratory reports must be completed as a part of the laboratory work. Reports MUST be submitted on time. Late reports will be penalized; reports submitted after class reports have been returned will be graded as zero. Periodic laboratory practical examinations will be administered throughout the term. A laboratory average will be computed consisting of the average of all graded lab reports (40%) and the average of the periodic laboratory practical examinations (60%). A final examination covering the entire semester's work will be administered on the final day of class. NOTE: Cell phone use is prohibited during class and laboratory!

Grading criteria:
The final grade will be computed directly as the average of the following three grades:

1/3 Average of tests

1/3 Laboratory average

1/3 Final Examination

Students should periodically check the instructor’s web site for announcements, helpful web sites, grades, etc. www.TeacherWeb.com/MA/MCC/DCampbell
