Instructor

Degrees:
B.S. Biology, Boston College, Chestnut Hill, MA
M.S. Toxicology, Duke University, Durham, NC

Academic Interests
My major interest and training is in environmental toxicology. After graduate school, I worked for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health where I determined the public health risk from chemicals found in local fish. I also evaluated the safety of new pesticides proposed for sale in Massachusetts. I continued to pursue my interests at the US Environmental Protection Agency. For ten years I worked in EPA’s Superfund Program evaluating the potential risks to humans exposed to chemicals at New England’s worst hazardous waste sites.

Currently I am an instructor in the Biology Department at Massasoit Community College. I advise the Emerald Earth Club, (a student sustainability/environmental group) and am a member of the College’s Recycling Committee. I also teach Environmental Science, Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2 and Biological Principles. I am interested in helping to develop new programs that train individuals to work in the environmental field.

Other Interests

Most of my spare time is spent with my family hiking, biking canoeing and enjoying nature.
